Emergency Weather Update - January 10, 2017

Due to weather conditions in the area tonight, all MMSD events which require out of district travel, both for other schools traveling to Madison and Madison schools traveling out of district are canceled. We will remain open as usual for all after school programs, including MSCR programs and after school activities.

A Principal Experience at Muir

Community involvement is key to the success of our schools, so we look forward to welcoming 93 Principal Partners to our schools through A Principal Experience on Tuesday, October 11. This event provides a unique opportunity to experience the rewards as well as the challenges our principals, teachers and students face on a daily basis.

Karen Falkner, retired MMSD elementary teacher, and Aaron Zutz of J.H. Findorff & Son, Inc. and are serving as the Principal Partners at Muir.

Vote November 8We are on a mission to close the gaps in opportunity that lead to disparities in achievement, and to ensure every child is academically challenged in a safe and supportive environment. As we work to keep this momentum going, we’re facing disruptive cuts from the state, which continues to approve budgets that are not supportive of public education. Internal transfer deadline is this Friday

If you have moved or plan on moving outside of your school's attendance area between September 1, 2015, and August 31, 2016, you may need to fill out an internal transfer application for your child to continue to attend the same school or feeder school for the upcoming school year.

To find your new attendance area, use the Find Your School tool online or contact your child's school. The deadline to submit your internal transfer application is this Friday, August 19 at 6:00 p.m.

Join us for an upcoming kindergarten playdate

If your child will be in kindergarten at Muir this fall, please take note of three playdates that we have scheduled for families to get to know each other. Bring a snack to share, and join us on the Muir playground for fun and camaraderie-building:

*Sunday, July 103-4:30pm
*Wednesday, July 27, 5:30pm (this is when the food carts are parked along Inner Dr., so you can enjoy a picnic dinner; bring a blanket!)
*Sunday, August 73-4:30pm

These playdates are a great way to get comfortable at Muir and join our school community. We hope you can join us for any (or all) of them. Please contact coordinator Lynn Renner ( if you have questions.
